A maintenance medication is a drug most commonly used to treat a chronic illness or life threatening long-term conditions such as asthma, diabetes, high blood pressure, arthritis or cardiovascular disease.

In order to be available through the mail order pharmacy, a drug must be on the Health Plan of Nevada (HPN) Preferred Drug List AND be considered maintenance by HPN.
